Application Process

1. Please review the Program Information packet and if you have any questions about whether the program is a good fit for you, contact the Program Coordinator:212-642-2075 or info@unionsemester.org

2. Complete the Union Semester application: 

  • New York Union Semester Program Application packet  (Please send an electronic copy of the personal statement, short answer essay questions, and writing sample to info@unionsemester.org
  • Your Resume  (Please send an electronic copy of your resume to info@unionsemester.org)
  • 2 Letters of Recommendation (you will find these forms in the application packet)
  • $70 Application Fee made payable to School of Professional Studies, CUNY
  • Official Transcripts from your current college or university and any previous colleges you have attended.  (You will find a transcript request form that you may send to the Registrar at your home school in the application packet.)

For International Students:

Union Semester welcomes applications from international students and has hosted many students from around the world in past years.  There are a few additional requirements of international students, listed below. 

1. International Student Application Supplement: International students will also need to complete the CUNY School of Professional Studies’ Union Semester International Student Application Supplement. 

2. TOEFL:  In order to be eligible for admission to Union Semester, international students will need to score a minimum of a 550 on the TOEFL paper test or an 80 on the computer-based TOEFL test. 

You will need to submit a copy of your TOEFL score to the CUNY School of Professional Studies.  For your reference, our Educational Testing Service (ETS) code is 4829.  You may use this code to send your scores to us directly.

3. Translation of Official Transcripts: If your original official transcripts are not in English, you will need to submit official copies of all transcripts along with professionally translated versions of each transcript in English as well.
